Day 12 Escalante & Capital Reef

Left Bryce after doing laundry, heading east on 12. We found a spot looking back to where we had been at Bryce, on top of the mountains here.

There were some tiny little towns in very green valleys nearly hidden in the dried up rocky canyons and mountains.

Spectacular overlooks of the Escalante National Park mountains, canyons, and giant semi flat areas. Aspens were Golden and twinkling on the sunlight.

For lunch today, we ate in Boulder, Utah.

Billy vs the Burrito

I had tacos and Paula had a large tasty burrito off a food truck in front of the Anasazi Museum. The museum had many examples from the excavations and restructured buildings, which are viewable behind the museum.

Petroglyphs in valley in Capital Reef National Park. Many-colored rock formations.

Goosenecks are bold river turns, one after the other, with very steep sides.

Paula said today’s day of rock, mountains, and erosion was like a cross between the Grand Canyon and the Badlands of South Dakota.

Made our way to Moab for the night. Grand total 4947 miles.
