July 8, 9: Vancouver and at Sea on the Majestic Princess

July 8 there was an hours long snaky line to board the Majestic in Vancouver.

Here are scenes in port from Canada Place Ship Terminal, including an accidental capture of what appears to be a homeless camp. This was my first trip on the Majestic Princess.

Finding an acceptable dinner table for the 7 of us: table 1 was part couch, crowded, and table 2 was right in the traffic lane, table 3, tucked in the back. Perfect. We will eat there the same time every evening after having cocktails/beverages.

My cocktail is usually a beer, and for this trip, I intended to drink all Alaska beers! Here is my first Alaska beer at sea, Alaskan Icy Bay Beer:

First we headed Southwest around to the Pacific Ocean: we are cruising south and then around out of the bay areas, to begin our northward passage. Below is the sunset heading North. The sunset beginning at 11 pm was lovely.

Day 2 at Sea
July 10 Early (8 am) in the Marketplace, I enjoyed breakfast. It was cloudy, no pretty sunrise today. Later Nancy and I watched a food carving demonstration; here are some photos:

Alaskan Amber Beer

We attended one whale of a presentation! It was very informative, informing us of the different spouts created by the different whale species. We were constantly looking for the “blows” afterwards.

Lunch was followed by a crazy hand and foot then mish mash card games.
Later we had cocktails, dinner, and a show. My beer choice tonight: Alaskan Amber.
