Day 16 Caverns, Salt, Desert

Yesterday earwig in my coffee. Last evening scorpion between the beds.
Pre sunrise, skunk slinking around restroom. Must be getting closer to Texas.

Carlsbad Caverns. A large buck, nice set of antlers, nearly got Paula. Luckily we got in on the second group at 8:45 in the morning. We took the “Natural Entrance Tour” in the mostly dry live cave, and were in for an hour and a half. If you want to see largest and most of the cave features, take the elevators down and take the Big Room Route (1 1/2 hrs.). There are no ranger guided tours at this time.

More about Carlsbad Caverns

El Capitan what? Tall mountain in the middle of the Northwest Texas actually is part of the Guadalupe National Forest and on the Texas Mountain Trail.

El Capitan

Butterfield Stage Route goes around the south and west of the Guadalupe Range.

Salt lake salt wars 1877.

Dried salt lake, El Capitan in background.

Passed a full field of ready to pick cotton. Headed south.

Ended for the night in Junction, TX. Be home tomorrow.

6275 miles total.
